Abstract
That night, Whimsey Wildnote, mind-wanderer extraordinaire, found herself drawn into a neural symphony. Her wondrous Improvisarium where thoughts bloom into melodies and synaptic pathways spark with free-flowing rhythms. Guided by Bluesy, a violin-playing dolphin who navigates her inner currents, she embarks on a mind journey through the melodiverse, discovering that in a world obsessed with perfection, improvisation isn’t chaos: it’s the mind’s most elegant dance between structure and spontaneity, and perhaps the key to her own survival.
Synopsis
Whimsey Wildnote, an improvert living in a futuristic world consumed by perfection, embarks on an adventure into the hidden depths of her mind. With the guidance of Bluesy, her newfound inner dolphin, she navigates mesmerising synaptic pathways and labyrinthine thought caverns where hemispheres collide and musical mischief takes flight.

In the dull, orderly world of Sonata, a picture-perfect Alpine village set in the mid-21st Century, 12-year-old Whimsey lives with her younger brother, Reed, and their replicarers.
Feeling increasingly disconnected from a society that prizes perfection over intuition, she finds herself drawn into the Improvisarium: a wondrous realm within her neurodivergent mind where she befriends Bluesy, an inner dolphin who introduces her to the forgotten art of improvisation.
Together they embark on a quest through a magical mindscape to uncover her true identity as ‘Whimsey the Wondress,’ an improvert and empath at one with her parents’ soulful legacy. As this mind-wandering multi-instrumentalist explores vast synaptic spaces, she encounters peculiar musical instruments that embody specific regions of her consciousness: each offering unique insight into the harmony between structure and spontaneity, precision and play.
Realising her mind has been locking up parts of the Improvisarium associated with warm, creative intuition — thanks to Lord Fretful’s imposition of perfectionist blockades — Whimsey and Bluesy must find a way to stop this synaptic sorcery, balance the connectome, and unlock her Improvisarium.
Their journey serves a dual purpose: balancing the colliding forces within this whimsical world while calming the real-world struggles of her gifted brother and aging grandpapa.
